Econ Vlog #8
Hello. I'm Okura Moe.
Gong Cha is a global tea cafe from Taiwan that will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Japan in 2025. The company operates over 2,300 stores in 30 countries around the world, and 195 stores nationwide. When you think of Gong Cha, many people may think of "tapioca milk tea." It is a brand that has been riding the wave of the tapioca boom to increase its recognition and customer numbers. After that, the end of the boom and the COVID-19 pandemic overlapped, and sales dropped sharply, but the company has opened more stores and is growing again.
Why has Gong Cha been able to continue growing even after the bubble tea boom has ended? There are a number of reasons for this.
The first is a product lineup with a "playful" feel that appeals to Generation Z.In addition, the club has 550,000 members and its fan programs are going well.
In the future, the company hopes to double the number of annual visitors from 30.12 million in 2024 to 60 million by 2028, and expand the number of stores from the current 195 to 400.
Gong Cha is a very popular drink among young people. I look forward to seeing it continue to grow.
