Personal Reflection Part 1
Hello. I'm Okura Moe.
I learned a lot from listening to Ms.Duquette's lecture this time. I recently started working at an izakaya. They had a wide selection of sake, and it was my first encounter with sake. Many customers asked for sake made in Niigata, and I became interested in sake. At a time like this, I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to hear Mr. Duquette speak. She told us a lot about the different types of alcohol and their characteristics. There were so many things I learned for the first time. I would like to use the knowledge I gained this time in my future part-time jobs.
But what impressed me the most was Duquette's initiative. She has visited many countries in the past. In addition, I have learned a lot from changing jobs and gained experience. Many people tend to stay in the same job for a long time. I also thought that was normal. But after listening to her story, I thought her way of life was wonderful. I think the reason why many people stay in the same job for a long time is because the new environment and work are difficult. It was very inspiring to see her continue to absorb new things in new places. In our everyday lives, there are many challenges that require courage. There are things I regret not having tried and things I'm glad I tried until now. I wanted to be someone who takes on new challenges like her and continues to learn new things.
Until I heard her story, I thought she had always liked and was good at English. However, she said that she never really liked English. I don't dislike learning English, but I'm not very good at it. Since entering university, I think my English skills have improved a little through various classes. At that time, I was taking classes to improve my skills, not to communicate. She said that English is the best way to communicate with many different people. So, she was studying English. Listen to that, I wanted to participate in classes with a different purpose than before. By doing so, I think I will be able to improve my English skills and come to like English more.
